Five On Friday

I've been off an airplane for only a few hours, just downloaded my holiday photographs and wanted to drop by for a quick 'hello' (HELLO!) before we head out on our May 24th, 2016 Victoria Day weekend. As I did last week, I am joining Amy and her Five on Friday posts. I hope you'll visit Amy and then drop by some of the other lovely blogs and their authors who are also joining in.

I thought I'd briefly touch on five highlights from my trip. Hopefully this post will be enough of a tease to encourage you to come back this week and see what I did in more detail! Who is up for a challenge? This is a Five on Friday quiz!

In which museum in Oxford was this picture taken?

The story behind this quote touched my heart. Who was this hopeless romantic?

Is this a common street name in the UK? Anyone (besides my tour guide, A, of course) know what town contains this street name?

What are this man and his horse doing?

What was finished being built in this town in 1779 (hint: the village bears the same name)?

See you on Monday and for all of you Newfoundland and Labradorians out there, have a wonderful May 2-4 weekend!

  1. Fun photos of the UK. I think the man with the horse is pulling a boat along the towpath beside the canal. I've never seen such a thing, but I've read about it. Hopefully I'll see a similar sight in July when we make our first trip to the UK.
Happy Victoria Day weekend from the west coast!

  2. I assume it was the Ashmolean? Can spy Egyptian artefacts in the picture...

  3. Is the answer to your second one Robert Browning? I know the quote but can't really say I know who by, just guessing.
Great pictures, looking forward to seeing more later.

  4. Hello Patty. I've to visit from the Five on Friday link-up and get together. Thank you for your visit to my blog, leaving a comment and I've replied there. It looks as if you had a good trip. You got about a bit in the UK! An intriguing quiz. That's great! I was interested in the fact you'd been to Shrewsbury. I hope we hear more about your trip. Lovely photos, all of them, especially the ones of the canal. I cheated and looked up the quote (no 2 photo) and have learnt something new about one of our iconic British public figures. Have a wonderful weekend and week.

    1. I certainly did and will post more about it this week on my blog. It was a long weekend here - Victoria Day weekend in Canada - and I'm just getting back from a camping trip! Hope you had a wonderful weekend too.

  6. I am afraid I don't know the answers to any of your questions apart from number four, a horse pulling a canal boat. I haven't seen that along our own canal, just motorised boats. I imagine the horse drawn canal boat holiday being quite relaxing. Have a nice weekend. x

  9. I guess the Ashmolean, CS Lewis, York, Towing a canal boat (barge) and finally Ironbridge. I don't know if any of these are right, but if I am it is because I have a UK advantage! It looks as though you had a wonderful time, I look forward to hearing more about it. Glad your travels were safe. Thank you for joining Five On Friday, hope you are having a great weekend!

  11. A great quiz, your trip sounds fab. I am not sure of the answers although i think the man and horse are pulling the canal boat along. The street name i am guessing is in either Chester or stratford, just from looking at the wonderful tudor style building it is on. Have a great weekend :)
